A Difficult Time

I am 48 years old.I came from China.4 years ago,in China I was a senior neurosurgeon. While I was s medical student, I had a strong desire to be a neurosurgeon.Thank God, when I was 25 years old, I realized my dream, but in the beginning of my neurosurgeon career, I had a difficult time. The skill of neurosurgery is very different from general surgery. In my medical college , I just studied and was trained the skill of general surgery. The most importent skill of neurosurgery is the skill of microsurgery that is doing the operation under a microscope. My goodness, at the beginning of my training, I offen lost the direction of the operation area. I always confused where I was, even I didn't know where my hands were.Under the operation microscope, everything became very unusual. For example , under naked eyes, if there was only a tiny bleeding in the operation area, but under the operation microscope it looked like red flood. At that time, I was very worry. My superviser, a senior neurosurgeon ,told me that the hightst level of the neurosurgery operations were to steal the tumors from patients' brain. To steal means to remove the tumors from patients' brain but patients never feel any suffering. If you wanted to achieve this aim, you must get hold of the microsurgery skill. Otherwise, you would not be a real neurosurgeon. I really wanted to be a good neurosurgeon.but between the operation theatre and me , There was some distance. so, I began to train myself. I was alone in a operation room of our hospital's annimal laboratory for one month. Under a big operation microscope, I cut off and sewed up the tine blood vessels which were in the ears of rabbits.then I checked the vessels whether they were expedite or not. At next day, I checked these again and made sure the ears had necrosis areas or not.I did these jobs again and again and again ... I worked hard day and night. In my mind there were only the ears of my poor rabbits. One day, during the traning period, I felt thirsty. I wanted to make a cup of tea for myself. I boild five times full big kettle water, but I didn't drink one drop of tea, because, I boild it until dry five times. After about one month of hard work on the ears of rabbits, I started to do the microsurgery operations on the head of cadavers.....I got enough the stimulation of Formalin that was much stronger than choped onion......Finally, my supervisor told me I really had a leap in the skill of microsurgery and I could enter our real operation theatre......In fact, in my doctor career, I can't count how many difficult time do I had,but I know that every difficult time and every operation either success or fail, these are all my valuable experience.these were not only good for my medical experiences, they also taught me how to understand the world, they increased my confidences to overcome any task. they taught me to love life.
